Moody AFB and Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) one-day training
event scheduled for Wed, 20 January 2016 from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
This is a FREE event open to anyone. You will be provided a continental
breakfast and Lunch. Participants will walk away with tools and resources to
use when helping any child find their S.P.A.R.C. (Strength, Potential,
Aspirations, Resourcefulness and Confidence).

(www.MilitaryChild.org/training). This will bring you to the training page.
Scroll down to "Face to Face Courses". Below that you will find the box
with "Helping Military Children Discover Their S.P.A.R.C". Click on the
"Register Now" and follow directions. If you have any problem, please call

(joe.clever@MilitaryChild.org) for assistance.
Please register today by the end of this week to ensure we have materials
CEU's are available for $25 you can register for those at the training.
Georgia Department of Labor to Host Job Fair in Valdosta
The Georgia Department of Labor’s Valdosta Career Center will host a job fair featuring more than 20 employers Thursday, Jan. 21. The job fair is being sponsored by the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency and the Georgia High School/High Tech program. High school students are encouraged to attend.
The job fair will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the career center located at 221 South Ashley St. in Valdosta.
Among the employers registered to participate are Adolescent & School Health, City of Valdosta, Florida Department of Corrections, Georgia Military College, Goodwill Industries, Hester & Morris Orthodontics, Jacobs Ladder Therapeutic, Lowe’s Distribution Centers, Mount Olive ODBGT, New Hire Solutions, Paxen Learning Services, Sam’s Club, Southern Regional Technical College, Telamon Corporation, U.S. Air Force, Valdosta Fire Department, Valdosta Police Department, Valdosta State University, Wendy’s-Lake Park, WHLJ-Advertising, Wild Adventures and Wiregrass Technical College.
Employers who would like to participate still have time to register.

Energy program offers help with Valdosta heating bills
Beginning January 4, 2016, the Low Income Heating and Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) opened to the general public. Applications are being taken at Community Action Agencies. To find a CAA in your area go to the website http://www.georgiacaa.org/ . Applications for senior citizens began in December. Attached is a flyer giving a description of the program. Each area is allotted a different amount of money based on population and need and each area may have specific requirements to qualify. I am forwarding this announcement but I do not have any information about funding in your area. If you have any questions about this program, or if you want to find out how much money your area has been allotted or if someone is eligible in your area, contact your local Community Action Agency at the website listed above.
