The Department of Community Affairs in conjunction with t3 is hosting a free training on May 31, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council offices located at 912 First Avenue, Moultrie GA 31776 . The training will be focused on Coordinated Entry through a Housing First Lens.
· Housing First is an approach to ending homelessness that centers on providing people experiencing homelessness with housing as quickly as possible, and then providing services as needed. It includes several key features: few programmatic prerequisites, low barrier admission policies, rapid and streamlined entry into permanent housing, voluntary and engaging supportive services, and a focus on housing stability.
· Coordinated Entry refers to a centralized or coordinated assessment system that provides ease of access for those who are homeless to resources and allows for prioritization for those most in need of assistance. HUD has mandated that all CoCs have such a system in place by January, 2018 and DCA is working now to develop this for the 152 counties in the BoS CoC service area.
They would love to have representation from anyone who is a part of the South Central Georgia Homeless Task Force. Below is the link to the registration survey, please feel free to share with any other agency or individual you think may benefit from this training. If you have any questions please reach out to Rebecca Hickom at Rebecca.firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you so much!
