K.I.N.G.S. United LLC is hosting a community event for Heritage Day 2018 on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10am. The event will be held at the Southside Recreation Center located at 604 S. Oak Street, Valdosta, GA 31601. There will be free entry, free breakfast for kids, workshops, and discussion about Black Panther History.
Georgia's Hands-Free Law Took Effect July 1, 2018
The main branch of the South Georgia Regional Library System (SGRL) is now the Willis L. Miller Library and is located at 2906 Julia Dr. off Connell Rd. It opened Saturday, July 28. It serves Lowndes, Lanier and Echols Counties. Information on the other 5 branches is on our Education> Reading/Literacy tab.
The Transformations Program is forming its first class of 2018. There are 5 slots left for students.
The Transformations program is a 3 phase program using curriculum from several publishers. It lasts from 9-11 months and shows its participants how to move forward in life in the areas of education, employment, and finance management.
they will be taking pre-applications online through Feb 5th. Interviews for the program will be Thursday, Feb 8th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Class will begin on February 15th at 6pm.
Interviews and classes will be held at Park Ave United Methodist Church 100 E Park Ave. On class nights they serve dinner from 6-6: 30 pm and then class is from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Students receive a cash stipend each week for coming to class on time, doing their homework, and participating in class. If you know someone who might be interested, please share this information with them.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced on August 2, 2017 that the average basic premium for a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan in 2018 is projected to decline to an estimated $33.50 per month This represents a decrease of approximately $1.20 below the actual average premium of $34.70 in 2017.
