The Transformations Program is forming its first class of 2018. There are 5 slots left for students.
The Transformations program is a 3 phase program using curriculum from several publishers. It lasts from 9-11 months and shows its participants how to move forward in life in the areas of education, employment, and finance management.
they will be taking pre-applications online through Feb 5th. Interviews for the program will be Thursday, Feb 8th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Class will begin on February 15th at 6pm.
Interviews and classes will be held at Park Ave United Methodist Church 100 E Park Ave. On class nights they serve dinner from 6-6: 30 pm and then class is from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Students receive a cash stipend each week for coming to class on time, doing their homework, and participating in class. If you know someone who might be interested, please share this information with them.

NASW Georgia Chapter is very happy to announce a collaborative partnership with the University of Georgia School of Social Work around a licensure prep program. Dawn Apgar is the noted licensure exam preparation creator, author and facilitator.

Dawn Apgar, PhD, LSW, ACSW has been helping social workers across the country pass the ASWB® examinations associated with all levels of licensure. In recent years, she has worked in numerous states to assist with establishing statewide licensure test preparation programs.
Dr. Apgar has done research on licensure funded by the American Foundation for Research and Consumer Education in Social Work Regulation and is currently chairperson of her state’s social work licensing board. She is a past President of the New Jersey Chapter of NASW and has been on its National Board of Directors. In 2014, the Chapter presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Apgar has taught in both undergraduate and graduate social work programs and has extensive direct practice, police, and management experience in the social work field.

In partnership with the Goodwill Career center in Valdosta, we are beginning another Transformations class. Transformations is a 3 phase program designed to show people the way out of poverty/low income by moving them toward self sufficient living, better jobs, and better money management. This class will be our first daytime class and will meet on Friday mornings from 9-11:30 am. Breakfast will be provided for the students as well as the food bags and other incentives that students have earned in the past. There is a video link below with testimonies from our past students. Attached are both the application and the instruction flyer for perspective students. Interviews for applicants will take place at Goodwill on Friday, June 23rd from 9-11:30 am and class will begin on Friday, June 30th at 9 am.
