Come and bring your child to learn about mental health and participate in interactive workshops about coping skills.
NAMI Georgia's Annual Conference will be held April 20-21 at Mercer University in Atlanta. This conference will have multiple sessions, workshops, and speakers giving educational presentations on various topics surrounding mental health. This year, we will incorporate "Children's Day", which will involve interactive educational learning models (i.e. art therapy, dance, yoga, pets, music, etc.) catered towards children ages 3 - 13 accompanied by their parents. The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), Division of Behavioral Health is pleased to announce that it will again host a two-day Behavioral Health Symposium on OCTOBER 4 & 5, 2018 at Lake Lanier - Legacy Lodge and Conference Center to inform professionals about best practices in the delivery of behavioral health services and supports.

The Transformations Program is forming its first class of 2018. There are 5 slots left for students.
The Transformations program is a 3 phase program using curriculum from several publishers. It lasts from 9-11 months and shows its participants how to move forward in life in the areas of education, employment, and finance management.
they will be taking pre-applications online through Feb 5th. Interviews for the program will be Thursday, Feb 8th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Class will begin on February 15th at 6pm.
Interviews and classes will be held at Park Ave United Methodist Church 100 E Park Ave. On class nights they serve dinner from 6-6: 30 pm and then class is from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Students receive a cash stipend each week for coming to class on time, doing their homework, and participating in class. If you know someone who might be interested, please share this information with them.
This is the youth version and is open to anyone who is involved with youth in any way (parent, caretaker, foster parent, youth leader, DFCS, teacher, faith leaders, etc.). The course teaches participants to recognize signs and symptoms early and how to distinguish between normal adolescence versus mental health needs. The Adult class will be announced in a separate post.

Satilla Advocacy Services and the Waycross Police Department are offering the National Self-Defense Institute SAFE (Self-Defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange) training for young girls (minimum age 12) and women. This training will provide girls and women the tools needed to reduce the risk of physical attacks. Topics include: Home Safety, Travel Safety, Date Rape Drugs, and more onTuesday, November 21, 2017 from 6 – 8pm.
